In the Hunter Valley, 'Joey' Johns is lauded as a local folk hero, having won the Newcastle Knights their only two grand finals virtually on the back of his individual genius, including one of league's most enduring moments, when Johns created a try for Darren Albert to secure victory with just six seconds remaining in the 1997 grand final.
