Each grade-specific book in "The Get Ready for School series" reinforces essential, age-appropriate skills, recognized by educators nationwide, through fun and rewarding activities such as coloring, completing patterns, matching pairs, matching words or numbers to pictures, connecting the dots, solving puzzles, completing mazes, and more. "Get Ready for Pre-K" focuses on early-learning skills such as how to write the alphabet and count from one to ten. Children learn to recognize colors and shapes and to name the four seasons and the days of the week, among other basics. "Get Ready for Kindergarten" builds confidence and skills such as reading and beginning spelling; counting from one to twenty; learning to add and subtract; and, concepts such as opposites, same and different, comparisons, sequencing, and more. It also covers our world' concepts such as animals and their homes, occupations, types of vehicles, and dressing oneself. "Get Ready for First Grade" builds on the skills learned in kindergarten and covers vowels and consonants, spelling, addition and subtraction, counting to 100, counting money, and telling time.
