Roald Dahl, the best-loved of children's writers, was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. After going to school in England he went to work for Shell in Africa. He began to write after 'a monumental bash on the head' sustained as an RAF pilot in World War II. Roald Dahl died in 1990. Stephen Fry has worked widely in theatre, film and television. His television credits include Jeeves and Wooster, A Bit of Fry and Laurie and QI. His films include Gosford Park and Wilde, in which he played the title role. He has read many audiobooks, including the entire Harry Potter audiobook series.
