These pieces do not come from plays but each has a narrative and an action that makes it ideal for theatrical performance. In each case the speaker is a fascinating and engaging -or challenging-character and has a reason for telling the story that is theatrically compelling. Increasingly in recent years some of the most exciting performances have drawn on non-dramatic sources. Here are some suggestions.
