A true-crime book with a difference, Judgment Day is a collection of 22 criminal cases (predominantly murder) which offers an insider's perspective into how each case unfolds from the judge's perspective. These are cases that have intrigued and terrified modern Australia, including the Snowtown serial killings, the murder of British tourist Peter Falconio, Martin Bryant's rampage at Port Arthur and the 1989 assassination of Australian Federal Police assistant commissioner Colin Winchester. Each judgment is published in its entirety, and describes in detail the evidence pertinent to each crime and, ultimately, explains how judges arrive at the sentences they impose. Judgments are also preceded by background editorial to provide readers with a broader perspective of the significance of each crime.
